It makes the non-Tanzanian reader understand at some depth what the normal and average Tanzanians everyday life is ... In this respect it can compete with Achebe, Ngugi, p-Bitek and others in the field of African literature. Sometimes the writer is satirical, but more often, he is a moralist, understanding why people behave the way they do, and then quietly obliging the reader the task to ask himself whether this is decent behaviour or not.
